Britney Spears Dethrones Twitter King Ashton Kutcher
There’s a new Twitter queen in town!
One year ago, Ashton Kutcher beat CNN in the race to 1 million followers and continued to have the most followers in the Twitterverse. Until now!
Britney Spears has slowly been creeping up on Ashton’s Twitter following and at the time of this posting, Britney has 4,939,603 followers and Ashton has 4,937,927.
Of note: Britney doesn’t tweet herself. Her team does it for her and her manager Adam Leber chimes in semi-often even though he has an account of his own. Brit also tweets an average of 1.7 tweets/day while Ashton averages 11.2.
Today, Ashton has been at a press junket for his new movie called Killers. He tweeted, “Second most pop question [has been] ‘What do you think about Britney having more followers than you?’ Answer: ‘I don’t care. Aren’t you suppose to be a movie reporter?’”
Britney can be followed @BritneySpears while Ashton can be found at @aplusk!
DO YOU THINK Britney will continue her reign as Twitter Queen?

ReplyDeleteYes, I think that Britney will continue her reign as Twitter Queen.
As the article has mentioned that one year ago, Ashton Kutcher beat CNN in the race to 1 million followers and continued to have the most followers in the Twitterverse. The possible reasons why Ashton Kutcher has won are because of his “attractive rewards” for his followers. From what I know, during this race, Kutcher had offered to give his millionth follower a copy of the video game “Guitar Hero” (a famous game). Therefore, this might have caught the attention of many people, thus they are trying their luck to be Kutcher’s millionth follower to own this video game. It resulted in Kutcher having a lot of followers. Without this race and rewards, Kutcher would not have gain himself a huge numbers of followers. Thus base on his own tweeting popularity, he might not have so many followers.
Furthermore, Kutcher said that he would donate 10,000 mosquito bed nets to charity for World Malaria Day if he had won CNN. As a result, more people will be his followers in order to get the mosquito bed nets.
I think that Britney is more popular than Kutcher.
Firstly, Britney doesn’t tweet herself. Her team does it for her and her manager Adam Leber chimes in semi-often. This shows that Britney has a lot of supports from her fans thus this resulted in a great number of followers. This also increases her fame and popularity in the celebrity’s world.
Secondly, Britney tweets an average of 1.7 tweets/day while Ashton averages 11.2. Even though Britney tweets lesser than Kutcher, she has currently won Kutcher, who tweets more than her. Also, with Kutcher’s new movie coming up, he should have been recognised by more people, gaining more popularity, increasing in followers and winning Britney, but he didn’t.
In conclusion, I think Britney will still be the Twitter Queen due to her tremendous popularity without even giving “attractive rewards” to her followers.

ReplyDeleteAfter reading through this article, I feel that Britney Spears reign as a Twitter Queen will eventually come to an end.
Even thought Britney Spears has finally overtaken Ashton Kutcher in the number of followers, I believe that this will not last for long. Firstly, Ashton Kutcher tweet an average of 11.2 tweets per day while Britney Spears only tweet 1.7 per day. Most of Britney Spears tweet was from her team and manager. Eventually, her followers will come to their senses to find out that the person they are following is not Britney Spears and hence lose interest in her tweeter account. Secondly, Ashton Kutcher is currently promoting his new movie called Killers. This will eventually caught the attention of people watching the movie and his followers will increase. Sooner or later, Ashton Kutcher will overtake Britney Spears.
With more and more people current engage in twitter, this will certainly have an impact on the movie and music industry. I am sure that both Britney Spears and Ashton Kutcher are gaining more attention due to this. For Britney Spears, this might result in an increase in her album sales and for Ashton Kutcher, this might boost the sales of his upcoming movie. Celebrities formerly created twitter accounts to break the boundaries between them and their fans. Sadly, more and more celebrities create twitter accounts to gain more attention for themselves.
YES! I think Britney Spears will continue her reign as Twitter Queen.
ReplyDeleteThe article stated that although Britney have about two thousand more followers than Ashton Kutcher. Also,Britney does not tweet herself.Having her manager and team doing all the work for her,and mind you,not that much work either.Britney tweets an average of 1.7 a day, comparing to Ashton Kutcher who tweets on an average of 11.2 tweets.
As a great twitter fan,I have to agree that "following" your favourite actors and actresses on the website also a great hobby to many people.
I have to agree that Ashton Kutcher's upcoming movie, The Killers, will increase the number of followers in his twitter account for sure.
In this fast-paced world, where technology helps in the music industry, people believe almost anything that people randomly comment on about Hollywood stars.
There can be no surprise that despite all the "drama" that Britney has gone through, she must be really happy that people all over the world still support her in the music industry.

ReplyDeleteNo. I do not think Britney will continue her reign as Twitter Queen.
As for what I know after reading this report, Britney Spears has taken over Ashton Kutcher as the most twitter followers. But I don't think it will last long. First of all, reports said that Britney's tweet was eventually from her team and manager which means Britney does not tweet herself while Kutcher do tweet himself most often.
Secondly, Kutcher has an average tweet of 11.2 tweets per day while Britney has only an average of 1.7 tweets per day.
Last but not least. From my background knowledge, Britney Spears had many past negative reports about her. Example, she has a marriage which lasted only 55 hours with her childhood friend Jason Allen Alexander. And also, she had a past history of alcoholic and drug addictions while Kutcher has a positive image and no bad reports reported about him till now.
Therefore, as the above conclusion I wrote, I think that the next most twitter followers will not be Britney Spears again. Maybe it will be Ashton Kutcher or someone else will reign the next most twitter followers.

ReplyDeleteYes, I think Britney will continue her reign as Twitter Queen for a period of time.
As mentioned from the article, Britney doesn’t tweet herself. Her team does it for her and her manager Adam Leber chimes in semi-often even though he has an account of his own. This clearly shows the reader that Britney has many die-hard fans that will support her.
Also, Britney tweets an average of 1.7 tweets/day while Ashton averages 11.2. This means that Ashton is probably working very hard to try to beat Britney in tweeting as he probably want to maintain his title again. Although Ashton tweets much more than Britney, Britney dethrones Twitter King Ashton Kutcher. I think that Britney is more popular than Aston as since Aston is releasing his new movie called Killers, why is there more people focusing on Britney instead of Ashton? It seems that less people are interested in Ashton now.
Even though Britney is the new Twitter queen in town, I am wondering if there are more negative comments about her rather than positive due to the fact that we can tweet about anything regardless of bad or good things. It will be great if Britney is earning her title with positive comments instead of having negative comments and thus becoming the Twitter queen.
However, just like the crazy fans over the Korean drama (Boys over flowers) which were released in channel U last year, almost everyone in Asian was talking about them. Recently, news about the Korean idols has seemed to die. Therefore, I believe that after Britney become the Twitter Queen for some time, most likely another hot celebrity will take over her place.

ReplyDeleteFrom previous news: One year ago, Ashton Kutcher challenged CNN to a popularity contest on the social media site Twitter. The celebrity and the news network raced to get 1 million followers on the micro-blogging site. At the end, Kutcher won the contest by less than 2000 total followers.
Until recently, Ashton Kutcher continued having the most followers in the Twitterverse.
Britney Spears was titled as an international pop culture icon immediately after launching her recording career. Her popularity has rose since then and she has now become a major influence among many new artistes. Thus, it is quite reasonable that she has more followers at Twitter than Ashton Kutcher.
Even though Britney Spears does not tweet her account personally, her almost 5 million followers would not mind, as they are only interested in her recent news.
In my opinion, Britney Spears will continue her reign as Twitter Queen, before another artiste’s popularity exceeds hers.
